About Us

Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller who recognized the very real need for affordable housing and a helping hand.  It has since expanded into all 50 states in the U.S. and approximately 70 countries.  The Madison County chapter was founded 12 years later in 1988 and has since continued to grow all the while focusing on the vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.  Habitat for Humanity operates under 5 main principles:

  1. Demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ
  2. Focus on shelter
  3. Advocate for affordable housing
  4. Promote dignity and hope
  5. Support sustainable and transformative development

The Habitat for Humanity Mission is, “Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.”
